This is a contract position involving drafting of pleadings, answering and propounding discovery, legal research, litigation tracking, and the tracking of other crucial deadlines. As per the Dauphinot office below, I have implemented a custom database for document, vital contact information, and calendar tracking. I have also converted this office into one that is virtually paperless, as all documents incoming and outgoing are converted into .pdf. Attorneys no longer need to find a physical file. They can view the entire case history and documentation on the local server. In all possible scenarios, which is approximately 98% of the time, all filing, federal and state, is done electronically. I am currently building a SQL database for tracking archived litigation files. I plan to eventually migrate much of the Filemaker Pro information to a SQL database for greater portability.

Assisted Employment and PI solo practitioner in the following areas: answering and propounding discovery; drafting and filing pleadings; tracking all deadlines; medical and evidentiary data tracking and acquisition; legal research; as well as carrying out all scheduling requirements; among numerous other responsibilities. At this office, I built and implemented an intricate custom data tracking system utilizing Filemaker Pro, ODBC, and standard .pdf protocols to allow multiple users through a single .fp5 license. This database automated numerous paralegal functions such as letter writing and deadline tracking, as well as connecting and storing information regarding vendors, medical providers, opposing counsel, witnesses, and other vital parties as related to each individual case within the office, and enabling instant recall of this data. This database also aids tracking of electronic documentation of all incoming and outgoing office documents be it pleadings, correspondence, discovery, or any other type of document. I still assist this office in the upkeep and improvement of this db.

OTHER PROJECTS AND SALIENT INFORMATION:

Bicycle Safety, Access, and Rights Activist/Free Range Human: I have used solely bicycle and mass transit for daily travel since August 2001. I recently initiated and promoted a successful campaign to reverse the reduction in bicycle rack space at a major Austin grocer. I am currently in the development phase of a non-profit organization that will work to enforce the rights of bicyclists injured in traffic accidents in both the criminal and civil law arenas. I am also currently promoting bicycling as daily transportation through my line of "Free Range Human" products. My goal is relieve traffic congestion by promoting lower impact transportation such as bicycles, mass transit, walking, motorcycles, and even boating.

Music: Recently contributed backing vocals to recording by the Small Stars, and wrote the liner notes for the CD. The final product is due in stores March 17, 2005. Some of my own music is available for download in mp3 format at http://www.joemitchell.biz/music/music.htm.
