HOW I DESCRIBE MYSELF:

A paralegal with a lot of computer skills.

WHAT I LIKE TO DO MOST:

Build custom php/MySQL database systems for legal office and other professional environments to track documents, deadlines, important contact information, billing, and other important information.

THINGS I WOULD RATHER HAVE SOMEONE ELSE DO:

Answer phones; File hard copies of documents; Tell the Senior Partner his $8,000 Dell Server just got fried in an electrical  storm.

EXPERIENCE:

Law Office of Anatole Barnstone; Austin, TX
Paralegal; July 2006 to Present

This is a contract position involving drafting of pleadings, responding to and propounding discovery, legal research, and litigation tracking. As per the Dauphinot office below, I have implemented a custom database for document control, contact information (Courts, Opposing and co-Counsel, Vendors, Clients, Witnesses, etc.), calendar tracking and billing (that's right, it does math!) at Mr. Barnstone's office. This database was originally created in Filemaker Pro, but has recently been migrated to php/MySQL for greater portability, expansion, and,  most importantly, lower maintenance and upgrade costs. I have also converted this office into one that is virtually paperless, as all documents incoming and outgoing are converted into .pdf. Attorneys no longer need to find a physical file. They can view the entire case history and documentation on the local server.

Law Office of Steve Fenoglio; Austin, TX
Paralegal; July 2006 to Present

I work as a contract paralegal on numerous litigation matters for the Fenoglio office, as well as office technical, IT, and php/MySQL database support.

Law Office of Wes Dauphinot, PC; Arlington, TX
Paralegal; September 2005 to July 2006

Assisted Employment and PI solo practitioner in the following areas: answering and propounding discovery; drafting and filing pleadings; tracking all deadlines; medical and evidentiary data tracking and acquisition; legal research; as well as carrying out all scheduling requirements; among numerous other responsibilities. At this office, I built and implemented an intricate custom data tracking system utilizing Filemaker Pro, ODBC, and standard .pdf protocols to allow multiple users through a single .fp5 license. This database automated numerous paralegal functions such as letter writing and deadline tracking, as well as connecting and storing information regarding vendors, medical providers, opposing counsel, witnesses, and other vital parties as related to each individual case within the office, and enabling instant recall of this data. This database also aids tracking of electronic documentation of all incoming and outgoing office documents be it pleadings, correspondence, discovery, or any other type of document. I still assist this office in the upkeep and improvement of this db.
